Safeguarding
At Marish Academy Trust, the safeguarding of all children is central to everything we do. We believe that every child deserves to develop in an environment free from any form of abuse- be that within school or outside. Safeguarding therefore refers the measure we put in place to ensure the physical and mental safety, well-being and protection of all our pupils. This is achieved through a secure learning environment, the early and proactive identification of risks or concerns as well as actively promoting the behaviours and skills that will support children to flourish both physically, mentally and and emotionally. Namely:
providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
preventing the impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
(Keeping Children Safe in Education 2025)
This is a priority and shared responsibility for all staff within our Trust. The safeguarding and promotion of child welfare is everyone’s responsibility and everyone who comes into contact with children has an essential role to play in this, always considering what is in the best interest of the child. We are committed to communicating clearly, efficiently and in a timely manner both internally and with out local partners in whom we work closely with.
To support staff in this essential task, we ensure all staff have regular training, assessment and support covering:
- KCSIE Part 1
- Our Bespoke Child Protection Policy
- The different types of abuse
- The possible indicators of abuse/how to spot it
- What to do if a child wants to talk to you
- Safeguarding
- Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Trafficking
- Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Forced Marriage
- County Lines
- Drugs and Alcohol
- PREVENT: Radicalisation and Extremism
- First Aid
- Bullying
- E-safety and Anti-bullying
- Safe Internet Use
- Cyberbullying
We, at Marish Trust, recognise that parents and carers are often in the best position to communicate concerns or risks about children and have a vital role in keeping them safe. We actively look to support and inform them of national or local safeguarding risks via our school newsletters and our ESAFETY page. Wherever possible we will always seek to engage in effective communication in the best interest of our children. If you have a concern, please do not hesitate to reach out to us:
