REN Champions
REN Champions are pupil leaders who help promote a positive and inclusive reading culture across Marish Academy Trust. REN stands for Read, Enjoy, Nurture, reflecting our commitment to developing a lifelong love of reading in every child.
Two pupils are selected from each class from Year 1 to Year 6, ensuring strong pupil voice and shared responsibility across the school. REN Champions act as role models for positive reading behaviours and help encourage a genuine enjoyment of books among their peers.
As part of their role, REN Champions support the organisation and care of reading resources by tidying book areas, checking and replacing labels, and showing respect for shared materials. They also help promote reading throughout the school and support special reading-focused events and activities.
Through being a REN Champion, pupils develop leadership skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. The programme supports personal development, strengthens engagement in school life, and gives pupils the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to their school community.
