Welcome to the Website
of Willow Primary School
(part of the Marish Academy Trust)
Dear Parents and Carers,
As we begin another academic year at Marish Academy Trust, it is a good time to take stock, looking back over our achievements last year. Highlights for 2017/8 were:
- In 2017 Marish was top of the league tables, for overall primary school progress performance at KS2 in Slough and in the top 2% of schools nationally.
- Marish Academy Trust was invited to contribute to the 2018 Parliamentary Review of Primary Education which is due to be published this autumn term.
- Attainment in both schools in 2018 is well above average at KS2.
- Our disadvantaged children do as well, if not better, than the other pupils.
Results, however, are not everything. Today, Marish and Willow are more than schools; rather they have become havens, where children and whole families are supported and nurtured. In partnership with parents and carers, we work together with other agencies to raise aspirations for our children.
Marish Academy Trust’s commitment to improve even further is enshrined in our revised Trust wide logo and motto ‘Strive for the heights’ shown above.
To achieve this, we will continue to welcome all people into our community, regardless of their backgrounds, ethnicities, faiths, age or skills. We focus on what we share: living or working in 21st century Slough and wanting the best outcomes and life chances for all our children. Here, diversity is a strength and rich resource, rather than a barrier. True inclusion exists when people not only live and work alongside each other, but rather when each individual is an accepted and valued member of our community or team. These aspirations apply to all members of the Marish/Willow Community and are summed up in our three diamond rules, our trust strap line and in fact, British values. Ask your child to explain what these mean in practice:
Three Diamond Rules:
Show respect and good manners at all times;
Care for everyone and everything;
Follow instructions straightaway, with thought and care!
Our Trust Strap Line:
Work to be outstanding,
Deserve to be outstanding,
Will be outstanding!
Tolerance and inclusion; mutual respect for personal freedom; understanding the value of democracy and the rule of law; equality of opportunity and a celebration of the diversity of our community which enriches us all.
These values and our children’s understanding of them are key to creating strong, resilient young people and communities which are the hope of a brighter future.
Thank you for all your support so far in 2018 – we could not have become so successful without you.
Mrs H G Denham
